Wynne becomes third Welsh national player on ETSU’s women’s soccer squad

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 11, 2012) – ETSU women’s soccer head coach Adam Sayers announced his second signee of the 2012-13 recruiting class, with Megan Wynne (St. Albans, UK) becoming the third Welsh national team player to join the Atlantic Sun champion squad.

"I am delighted that Megan will be joining us,” said Sayers, who also brought in Wynne’s Welsh national teammates Ellis Parsons (Cardiff, Wales) and Jasmine Dutton (Kimmel Bay, North Wales) as part of last year’s recruiting class. “She is a very dynamic player and exciting to watch. She is very good technically, skillful in possession, and will offer us width and pace."

Wynne’s international playing experience includes 22 caps for her home country of Wales since 2008. Nine of Wynne’s international caps came with the U17 squad, where she scored a goal against Macedonia in the elite round of the U17 European Championships. The Lady Bucs’ latest addition earned her other 13 caps for the Welsh U19 national team, scoring three goals which included a two-goal performance in a 21-0 victory over Georgia and a goal in a 5-0 win over Kazakhstan.

Wynne also joined Parsons this past November as a member of the Wales women's senior team for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2013 qualifier in Israel – a game which Wales won 2-0.

"Megan's vast international experience will be invaluable,” Sayers added. “She has played at a high level for a long time, and we are looking forward to her applying that experience here at ETSU."

At the club level, Wynne has played ten seasons for the Watford Ladies F.C. while also spending time with the Bedwell Rangers. Coming up through the Watford ranks, Wynne has spent one season with the Watford reserve team and two seasons with the Watford first team in the Women’s FA Premier League.

In the 2007-08 season, Wynne played in the U16 UK Home International Final for the Bedwell Rangers at Manchester City’s Ethidad Stadium, and was named Woman of the Match.
