Women’s soccer 2012 class increases to nine with addition of Andie Stone

Thursday, April 26, 2012

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 26, 2012) – ETSU women’s soccer head coach Adam Sayers announced the signing of defender Andie Stone (Austin, Texas) to the 2012 recruiting class on Thursday, increasing the count of next season’s newcomers to nine.

Stone comes to ETSU as a transfer from the University of San Francisco. The Lake Travis High School product used her medical redshirt after suffering an injury during her freshman season, and spent this past fall with the Dons before deciding to leave and sign along with Sayers’ defending Atlantic Sun regular season champion squad.

“Andie has been with us all spring, and has done very well," Sayers said. "After last season, and the loss of the seniors, we have a big hole to fill in the central defensive position. Andie will certainly be competing for that place in the fall. She reads the game well, is strong in the tackle, and good in the air.”

During her four years playing for head coach Jeff Gamble at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Stone led her squad to two District Championships and an appearance in the 2009 Sectional Finals. Her junior year, Stone was named First-Team All-District, following that up with a Second Team All-CenTex selection and Defensive MVP honors in 2010. At the club level, Stone played for the Lonestars ‘92G White Team, serving as team captain and leading the team to a 2007 Orange Classic Championship and 2008 runner-up finish. Stone was also a three-time Academic All-District member and named Academic All-State as a senior.
