CONWAY, S.C. (August 14, 2015) - In their first exhibition of the 2015 campaign the ETSU women's soccer team defeated Coastal Carolina 2-1 on Friday night at CCU Soccer Stadium. Juniors Molly Collinson and Cecilia Re scored the two goals for the Bucs.
Both goals came in the first half with preseason All-SoCon selection Molly Collinson getting the Bucs on the board first after a beautiful assist from freshman Delaney Griffin. It didn't take long for ETSU to strike again as Collinson assisted fellow junior Cecilia Re for the goal and gave the Blue & Gold a 2-0 lead.
Coastal Carolina struck right back before the end of the half when Madi Simmons connected with Marissa Stovring to cut the ETSU lead in half.
The Bucs shutdown the Chanticleers in the second half giving up just three shots while making one save. ETSU outshot Coastal Carolina 10-7 and outshot the Chants 8-4 in the first half. All players for the Bucs played during the first exhibition with Collinson leading the way with one goal and one assist on two shots.
ETSU will host their final exhibition game on Monday, Aug.17 at 10 a.m. against UT-Martin inside Summers-Taylors Stadium. The Bucs begin the regular season next weekend on the road at USC Upstate (Aug. 21) and Radford (Aug.24).
