JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 23, 2017)- The ETSU women’s soccer team plays its first road match of the season Thursday night, when the Bucs visit the Tennessee Volunteers. Kickoff at Regal Soccer Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Bucs opened their 2017 season by splitting a pair of home matches. ETSU rolled past South Carolina State 8-0 on August 18th before dropping a 1-0 decision to Tennessee Tech on August 20th.

Junior D Pauline Vienne (Lausanne, Switzerland) led the Bucs’ attack in the victory over South Carolina State, scoring three goals and adding three assists.

Thursday will mark the 6th all-time meeting between ETSU and Tennessee. In their last matchup – on August 28, 2016, in Knoxville – the Bucs spotted the Volunteers a 2-0 lead before rallying, only to see Tennessee hang on for a 3-2 result. Junior F Elenora Goldoni (Ferrara, Italy) scored both of the Bucs’ goals.

Goldoni and fellow juniors Isabel Hodgson (Adelaide, Australia) and Emily McKerlie (Dumfries, Scotland) were named to the All-Southern Conference pre-season team, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Southeastern Conference coaches, in their pre-season poll, picked Tennessee picked to finish 7th in the 14-team league.

Thursday will be Tennessee’s 2017 home opener. The Volunteers began the season with consecutive 1-0 road wins over Navy (August 18th) and George Mason (August 20th).
