Bucs open season with three home contests, will host Tennessee Sept. 6 

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 23, 2018) – The ETSU women’s soccer team has officially released its schedule for the 2018 season, ETSU head coach Adam Sayers announced Monday afternoon.

Ten home dates headline this season’s schedule, beginning with a preseason exhibition versus Appalachian State at Summers Taylor Stadium August 8 at 4 p.m.

Furthermore, the women’s soccer team will welcome the Tennessee Volunteers to town on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. as part of a busy week with the Vols. In addition to women’s soccer, ETSU volleyball will host Tennessee Sept. 4, while ETSU football travels to Knoxville Sept. 8.

The 19-game regular season for women’s soccer kicks off with two home contests against George Mason August 16 at 7 p.m., followed by Eastern Kentucky August 21 at 6 p.m.

The Bucs will face another Ohio Valley Conference opponent after EKU as they travel to Tennessee Tech August 24. ETSU will then return home to host Winthrop August 27 at 7 p.m.

A two-game road swing in the Carolinas follows Winthrop, beginning with a contest against USC Upstate August 30 in Spartanburg, S.C. ETSU then travels north to face Charlotte Sept. 2, kicking off the September portion of the schedule.

After ETSU hosts Tennessee, another Power 5 opponent awaits ETSU as the team travels to Virginia Tech Sept. 10. Six days later, ETSU will take on South Carolina State in Orangeburg, S.C., a series where ETSU is 3-0 in the last four seasons.

The Southern Conference schedule begins Friday, Sept. 21 as ETSU hosts last year’s regular season champion Furman at 7 p.m. The Bucs will also host Wofford two days later in a 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon contest.

ETSU’s first road game in SoCon action will take place in Cullowhee, N.C. against Western Carolina Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.

The Bucs will take a quick break from conference play with a home contest versus King on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. Following that contest, ETSU will travel to Samford and Chattanooga in a two game road swing, starting with the Bulldogs in Birmingham, Ala. Oct. 5 before facing the Mocs Oct. 7.

The final regular season home games for ETSU take place Oct. 12 and Oct. 14, as the Bucs welcome VMI Friday night at 7 p.m. before ending the home schedule with UNCG Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The regular season closes on the road with Mercer Oct. 19 and The Citadel Oct. 21.

The four-round Southern Conference tournament begins Oct. 24 with the second round set for Oct. 27. The higher seeds in each matchup will host the first two rounds of the tournament.

The semifinal round and the championship final will each take place at Mercer’s Bear Field in Macon, Ga. The semifinals are slated for Nov. 2 and the championship will take place Nov. 4.
