Women's Tennis Defeats Appalachian State

Johnson City, Tenn. - The women's tennis team defeated Appalachian State University 6-3 in Southern Conference action at University Courts. The win improves the Buccaneers to 7-3 (2-0 in the conference).

The key singles match of the day was the #3 singles match between Rica Iida (ETSU) and Tonya Eberhart (ASU). The match, which lasted well over three hours, was won by Iida 7-6, 6-2.

"It is always good to get a conference win," said ETSU Head Coach Tom Russ. "I was very proud of Rica's effort today. She had to change her style because of the matchup difficulties that Eberhart presented."
