BLACKSBURG, Va. (October 8, 2006) - The ETSU women's tennis team wrapped up action at the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The three-day tournament was hosted by Virginia Tech University and fielded players from eight different schools.
In Flight B singles, Whitney Trotter (Guadalajara, Mexico) fell Natalie Kretzer of Virginia Tech in the semifinals, 6-1, 7-5.
Brittany Stewart (Brentwood, Tenn.) fell to Amy Sheetz of Mary Washington in the Flight C consolation draw semifinals 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (5).
Due to all of the rain that the Blacksburg area received over the weekend only the final matches in each flight were played on Sunday.
"The rain just never did cut off so all the matches were played indoors and the format was kind of short," said head coach Steve Brooks. "I think it was a good tournament for the girls it let them get some experience, it will only pay off in the long run."
The ETSU women's tennis team will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. October 12-16 to participate in the ITA Southeast Regional. For all Lady Bucs tennis action visit www.etsubucs.com.
