LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2013) - One day after picking up a win over college tennis' 35th-ranked player, Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) capped her fall season with another win, coming from behind to win a thrilling match at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic.
Choo lost her opening set to Notre Dame's Julie Sabacisnki, 6-1; however, Choo refused to give in, taking the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3) before sealing the comeback victory with a 10-7 third-set tiebreak win.
"Tessie can be very happy about her performance this weekend," ETSU head coach Travis Sandlant said. "She represented ETSU well this weekend."
Choo finished the weekend with a singles record of 3-1.
"To go 3-1 at an invitational event that hosts some of the big colleges in tennis is a great effort," Sandlant said.
Teammate Ana Gerbasi (Caracas, Venezuela) suffered a setback to No. 35 Britney Sanders. Choo was able to pick up a win over Sanders Saturday, Nov. 9.
The tournament marked the final competition of the fall season for the ETSU women's tennis team. The Buccaneers will be back in action in the spring when they begin their final season in the Atlantic Sun conference.
