Andreazza, Choo earn All-Atlantic Sun First Team honors

ETSU tops all A-Sun schools with five First, Second Team selections

MACON, Ga. (April 16, 2014) - For the seventh time in the past eight seasons, the ETSU women's tennis team has placed a player on the All-Atlantic Sun First Team, with both Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and Giulia Andreazza (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil) earning the honor. The Bucs saw a league-best five players selected to the First or Second Team.

This season marks the sixth time ETSU has placed multiple players on the First Team.

Choo, who has been named to the First Team each of her first two seasons at ETSU, finished the season with a 22-9 overall singles record, including a 6-1 mark in league play. Meanwhile, Andreazza went 7-1 in A-Sun singles play, and teamed with Jessica Brumit (Elizabethton, Tenn.) to go 6-1 in A-Sun doubles play.

Joining Choo and Andreazza with All-Conference honors were Brumit, Ana Gerbasi (Caracas, Venezuela), and Salma Dahbi (Marrakech, Morocco), who each were named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team.

Brumit went 20-3 in singles play during the fall and spring and finished with a perfect 7-0 record in A-Sun competition. Currently, Brumit is riding a team-best nine-match win streak.

Gerbasi, who was a unanimous Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team selection last season, went 5-3 in A-Sun singles play and teamed with Choo to post a 4-3 doubles record in league play. Earlier this season, Gerbasi and Choo were ranked No. 51 in the ITA Preseason Rankings, the highest ranking for a doubles team in ETSU Women's Tennis program history.

Dahbi joined Brumit as the only two ETSU players to post unbeaten conference records in singles play. The Marrakech, Morocco, native finished the season with an 18-3 overall singles record, including a 7-0 mark in the A-Sun. She also teamed with Sofia Espana to finish 5-1 in A-Sun doubles play.

The Bucs, winners of nine of their last 10 matches, will begin play in the Atlantic Sun Women's Tennis Championship this weekend.

ETSU, the tournament's No. 2 seed will receive a bye into the semifinals where it will take on either third-seeded Florida Gulf Coast or sixth-seeded Lipscomb Friday, April 18 at 5:00 p.m.

The tournament, which will be hosted by North Florida, will take place April 17-19 in Jacksonville, Fla.
