Buccaneer women's tennis rallies to defeat Tennessee Tech, 4-3

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (April 4, 2003) - East Tennessee State University's women's tennis team rallied to defeat non-conference opponent, Tennessee Tech, 4-3, Friday afternoon in Cookeville. Tennessee Tech took the lead early, winning the doubles point, but the Buccaneers rallied in singles play to pick up the victory. With the win ETSU moves to 10-13, 1-5 in conference play. East Tennessee State received singles victories from Sywlia Ziolkowska (Warsaw, Poland) at number one singles, Jessica Irey (Clewiston, Fla.) at number three, Jewel Aldea (Charleston, S.C.) at number four singles and Aimee Villavicencio (Lexington, Ky.) at number six singles. "It is good to get a win," Buccaneer head coach Steve Brooks said. "It's good that the girls have found confidence again, and hopefully we can continue through tomorrow." The Buccaneers will return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. as they take on Arkansas State in non-conference play.
