ETSU Women's Tennis Announces First Annual Golf Etc. Combo Doubles Tournament

Tuesday, October 28, 2003

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 28, 2003) - The East Tennessee State University women's tennis team will hold the first annual Golf Etc. Combo Doubles Tournament from November 7-9. The Golf Etc. Combo Doubles Tournament offers four levels of competition (6.5, 7.5, 8.5, and open) and three divisions (women, men, and mixed). Proceeds from the tournament will help support the ETSU women's tennis program. "I hope that this is the first of many tournaments to come," commented head coach Steve Brooks, who also serves as the tournament's director. "We have a good relationship with Golf Etc. and hope that the community will support this tournament as much as they have other ETSU tennis fundraisers." Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to meet members of the women's tennis team, who will be in attendance to help run the event. "Specialty tournaments like this allow the community to enjoy the sport of tennis as well as help support the women's tennis program," said Brooks. The deadline for entry forms is Monday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. Entry forms can be found on the ETSU women's tennis website (www.etsubucs.com/sports/wtennis/). Indoor courts will also be available via the Buccaneer Tennis Donors Association for rental beginning December 1. Details are also available on the women's tennis website.
