BLACKSBURG, Va. (Feb. 24, 2006) - The ETSU women's tennis team continued their winning ways, defeating the University of Maryland-Baltimore County 6-1. The Lady Bucs are now 7-1 on the season.

The Buccaneers again dominated the singles action, winning five of the six sets. In No. 1 singles Masha Ilina was defeated by Ale Pedergnana, 6-4, 2-6, (10-8). Senior Sandie Knight defeated Cornelia Carapcea, 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. In the No. 3 position, Olya Batsula defeated Joanna Woo, 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Tara Byrne defeated Joy Adewumi at the No. 4 position, 6-1, 6-3. In No. 5 singles, senior Sylwia Ziolkowska defeated Elizabeth Anderson, 6-1, 6-2 and in No. 6 singles, freshman Vita Moskaliova (
"Overall we had a very good team effort," said head coach Steve Brooks, "we have got a tough match tomorrow, and hopefully we'll come out solid. "
