Stupak earns ITA Southeast Regional ranking

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 8, 2006) - Following a strong fall campaign, freshman Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) has been ranked No. 23 in the Southeast Region, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Friday.

Stupak, who went 8-4 during fall tournament play, has defeated opponents from No. 40 Purdue, No. 31 N.C. State, No. 44 Indiana, and No. 59 Kansas. She also defeated No. 70 Sara Anundsen of No. 10 North Carolina.

"I am very happy to have Yevgeniya be selected in the recent rankings.  She had a great fall defeating several ranked players. It takes good team support for something like this to happen," said head coach Steve Brooks.

This is the first time a member of the ETSU women's tennis team has been ranked since former Lady Buc Kristy Pace-Wagner was ranked in 1995.

The Lady Bucs will open the 2007 season January 19 and 20 as they travel to the Bluegrass State where they will take on Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, and No. 17 Kentucky.
