WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (October 22, 2008) - After a week long layoff the ETSU women's tennis team returns to action, as it competes against some of the top teams in the region at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships, in Winston Salem, N.C.

The six-day event is set to open Wednesday, with the first two rounds of singles prequalifying play. The top four finishers from that draw will advance to the qualifying round of 32 which will begin play Thursday. Eight winners of that bracket will continue play in the final main draw bracket of 64, starting later this week. Along with the three singles draws, a 64 team doubles bracket will also start play, Saturday.

ETSU will swing into action Thursday, as the qualifying singles bracket opens play. Freshman Paula Jamie (Madrid, Spain) will be matched up against North Carolina State's Diana Mortlock, while senior Tara Byrne (Johnson City) will face Sara Abutovic of Winthrop.

ETSU junior Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) is the third Buc to compete; however she will receive an automatic bye until main draw action begins, due to her No. 63rd ranking.
