Brooks voted onto the ITA Division I Operating Committee
Monday, July 06, 2009 As a two-term member of the committee, Brooks' responsibilities involve overseeing compliance and rules and regulations that pertain to various ITA tournaments and dual meet play throughout the collegiate tennis season. In addition to gameday operations Brooks will be involved in making decisions and voting on a new ranking system and other tennis duties at both the ITA Operating Committee and ITA National Convention meetings this coming December. "I'm honored to be voted onto this committee," said Brooks. "The ITA, along with the NCAA, is the governoring body of our sport and I'm looking forward to working with the other members on how to improve tennis at the Division I level." The ITA is comprised of nearly 1,700 men's and women's coaches representing over 1,200 institutions across the country from all three NCAA divisions, as well as the NAIA and junior and community colleges. Currently, the ITA oversees activities involving over 15,000 varsity college student-athletes, in addition to ITA collegiate coaching members, the ITA welcomes collegiate varsity players, junior players, corporate, and affiliated membership of alumni, conferences & associations, and the international tennis federations. 2009-2011 Division I Operating Committee members Chad Skorupka, Wake Forest (New Chair) Jamie Ashworth, Duke University For more information on the ETSU women's tennis please visit ETSUBucs.com. |
