BLACKSBURG, Va.  (Oct. 4, 2009) - Preparing themselves for the tough upcoming ITA Regional Championships the ETSU women's tennis team powered itself to a perfect record Sunday, winning all eight contests in final day action of the Hokie Fall Invitational at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

"Today every girl played great," said assistant coach Travis Sandlant. "A number of our players played against some really good competition this weekend and I'm so proud of each of them in the effort they gave and how hard they played throughout this entire event."

As she did Saturday, sophomore Karina Kedzo (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela), continued her winning ways as the 2009 Atlantic Sun Conference second-team member earned her second win of the weekend over Radford's Petra Dajevic, 6-3, 6-2.

Also picking up singles wins on the third day was sophomore Paula Jaime (Madrid, Spain) and junior Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania). Jaime picked up her second victory in-a-row with a 7-5, 6-1, win over Radford's Ivan Tomaic, while Voinea closed out her weekend with a strong 6-3, 6-2, outcome against Tennessee Tech's Laura Porras.

Junior Kelly Holtzhausen (Johannesburg, South Africa) closed out her Flight B singles bracket with a 6-2, 7-6 (3), win over host Virginia Tech's Shannon Betts.

After earning her first victory of the tournament Saturday, Lady Buc freshman Miranda Cameron (Lenior City, Tenn.), rolled past Radford's Sarah Tegner in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (4).

Rounding out the singles scores was fellow ETSU newcomer Kelby Martson (Erwin, Tenn.). The local East Tennessee native dropped Elon's Sally Wilkey, 6-0,6-0.

"I thought the girl's confidence was where it needed to be today," said Sandlant. "Anytime you play at this level the mental game can sometimes be as important as the physical play. With our performances over the last three days, I believe our team is building that confidence it needs to compete at regional's coming up."

ETSU also picked up two doubles wins on the day as both the Lady Buc teams of Holtzhausen and Diana Navrostskaya (Lviv, Ukraine), in addition to the duo of Cameron and Voinea earned consolation bracket championships.
