Freshman duo 22-8 on the year

SKILLMAN, N.J. (April 10, 2013) – The ETSU women’s tennis freshman doubles pairing of Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and Anna Gerbasi (Caracas, Venezuela) broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings on Tuesday at No. 71.

Choo and Gerbasi are an impressive 22-8 overall on the 2012-13 campaign, including a 12-2 mark over the spring season and an undefeated posting of 6-0 in Atlantic Sun play. The freshman duo has played 13-of-14 spring contests in the No. 1 slot, where it is 12-1, and has won its last 10 matches.

The two Lady Buccaneers began making noise against the nation’s best in early November. The duo earned its first win over a nationally ranked pairing at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic, defeating then-No. 14 Kanyapat Narattana and Malika Rose of Oklahoma State, 8-6. Choo and Gerbasi are 1-1 against nationally ranked opponents overall.

The 71st-ranked duo will look to finish a perfect 8-0 in A-Sun play this weekend as ETSU (11-5, 6-0 A-Sun) travels to Georgia to complete the regular season against Mercer and Kennesaw State.
