Bucs enjoy successful first day of fall play

ELON, N.C. (Sept. 13, 2013) - The ETSU women’s tennis squad enjoyed a great deal of success in its first day of fall competition, with all four of the participants going unbeaten. Picking up wins for the Bucs included Guilia Andreazza, Salma Dahbi, Sofia Espana, and Lyn Yee Choo.

Andreazza (ETSU) def. Baron (USC Upstate) - 6-2, 6-0

Lyn Yee Choo (ETSU) def. Hamel (UNC-Asheville) - 7-5, 6-4

Dahbi (ETSU) def. Iyengar (UNC-Greensboro) - 6-1, 6-0

Espana (ETSU) def. Hall (UNC-Asheville) - 6-1, 6-1

DOUBLES

Espana-Andreazza (ETSU) def. Ellis-Burton (UNC-Greensboro) - 8-1

Lyn Yee Choo-Dahbi (ETSU) def. Boissevain-McNall (UNC-Asheville) - 8-6

 

“It was a good opening day for the year,” ETSU head women’s tennis coach Travis Sandlant said.

The Buccaneers will be in action tomorrow for the second day of the three-day tournament.

“We know tomorrow is going to be a lot tougher,” Sandlant said. “We are looking forward to some tough matches.”
