WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (Sept. 29, 2013) - Junior Jessica Brumit (Elizabethton, Tenn.) capped a solid weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational Sunday with a win in the final round of the E singles flight.
Brumit knocked off Elon's Viviana Stavreva, 6-4, 6-2, in the flights championship round. The Elizabethton, Tenn., native dropped just one set in singles play during the three-day tournament.
"Jessica [Brumit] again proved that discipline and attitude are the key factors to being successful," head coach Travis Sandlant said. "Everyone needs to follow her example."
In doubles action, Brumit teamed with Giulia Andreazza (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil) to advance to the finals of the B doubles flight, but the duo fell short to Wake Forest's Guerin/Retolaza, losing 8-4.
"We had mixed results this weekend," Sandlant said. "Today in the doubles final, we blew some break and game points early on, but credit to Wake Forest for saving them and changing the momentum back in their favor."
Sunday marked the final day of the Wake Forest Invitational.
