Women’s Tennis wraps up play at UNC Wilmington Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Sept. 13, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University women’s tennis team closed out its first event of the fall Sunday afternoon at the UNC Wilmington Invitational. The Bucs, who took on Campbell in doubles and UNC Wilmington singles on the final day, went a combined 14-9 in singles and 6-4 in doubles over the course of the weekend.

The Bucs took on Campbell in doubles in their first match of the day and went 3-1. The tandem of Lynn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and Ana Gerbasi (Caracas, Venezuela) earned their second doubles win of the weekend, picking up a 6-1 win over the team of Irina Karangozishvili and Georgina Segarra.

In its second match of the day, ETSU went 3-4 in singles matchup against UNC Wilmington. Choo picked up her second win of the day defeating Annika Sillanpaa: 6-1 and 6-0. Freshamn Marina Espana (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) also picked up another win over Christne Kharkevitch: 7-5, 6-1.

ETSU will be back in action Oct. 2-4 when it competes in the Georgia Southern Invite in Statesboro, Ga.
