JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 2, 2016) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will look to remain unbeaten this week when it travels to take on Morehead State Wednesday and when it hosts Tusculum Sunday in Bristol, Tenn. The start times for the two matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively.
The Bucs, who come into the week with a 2-0 record, have been paced so far this season by senior Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia). Choo is not only the No. 12 ranked player in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Rankings but she also boasts a perfect 2-0 mark in singles and doubles action. In addition to Choo, the entire team has seen quite a bit of success as the Bucs are unbeaten in singles (12-0) and doubles (6-0).
Morehead State has begun its 2016 season dropping its first two matches. The Eagles’ two losses, however, came on the road at ACC opponents in Cincinnati and Louisville. Morehead State has a very young team this season as its six person roster consists of four underclassmen.
Sunday’s match against the Bucs will be the first match of the spring season for the Pioneers. Tusculum comes into the season ranked No. 46 in the ITA/Oracle NCAA Division II team rankings. Individually, the Pioneers are figured to be led by Kealee Heffner who is the No. 20 ranked player in the ITA/NCAA II Southeast Region Player Rankings after posting a 13-5 mark in singles last season.
