SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 3, 2016) – ETSU women’s tennis player Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Jan. 27-Feb. 2, the league office announced Wednesday. Choo is the fourth ETSU athlete to receive the honor this academic year joining volleyball’s Briana Allmon (Flower Mound, Texas), track and field’s Haydn Borghetti Metz (Rogersville, Tenn.) and women’s basketball player Chandler Christopher (Greeneville, Tenn.).
The senior from Kuching, Malaysia helped the ETSU women’s tennis team to back-to-back 7-0 wins over USC Upstate and Appalachian State to open its 2016 season last weekend. Choo is a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles competition so far this spring.
Choo, who is currently No. 12 in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Rankings, has a 3.98 GPA and majoring in Computing with multiple concentrations in Information Systems and Information Technology. Additionally, Choo is a three-time academic all-conference student-athlete, while earning the 2013 Atlantic Sun Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
