ETSU looks to pick up its fifth straight win to open the season

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 13, 2016) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will look to notch its second consecutive 5-0 start this weekend when it hosts Emory University Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Bristol Racket Club. ETSU has picked up wins over USC Upstate, Appalachian State, Morehead State and Tusculum so far this season.

In its four wins so far in 2016, ETSU has been dominant as it has a combined record of 22-2 in singles competition and a perfect 11-0 mark in doubles play. Individually, Marina Espana (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) and Regina Nychytailova (Maripol, Ukraine) both own 4-0 marks in singles. In addition, Espana was named the SoCon Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Emory University will open its 2016 campaign a day before taking on the Bucs against Washington (Mo.) and Sewanee. The Eagles are coming off back-to-back seasons where they reached the National Championship match at the Division III level. Emory took home the national title in 2014 and own five additional titles in its history.
