Bucs look to keep their perfect record intact this weekend

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2016) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will head out on the road for just the second time this season as it heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for a pair of matches against UT Martin and Middle Tennessee State this weekend. The Bucs, who are 5-0 so far in 2016, will take on the Skyhawks Friday at 4 p.m. before rounding out the road trip with a 10 a.m. match against the Blue Raiders Saturday.

Coming into the weekend, the Bucs are not only 5-0 overall but they also boast a 27-3 combined record in singles and a perfect 13-0 mark in doubles competition. Additionally, six of the eight players that have played in a match this spring for ETSU are undefeated in singles.

The Skyhawks have a record of 0-4 in 2016 but two of those losses were against SEC opponents in Auburn and Tennessee. Hitomi Naito has paced UT Martin in the early going with three combined victories in singles and doubles.

Middle Tennessee State comes into the weekend on a four match winning streak. The Blue Raiders have some impressive wins during the winning streak as they have knocked off ACC opponent Louisville along with SoCon foes Samford and Chattanooga. Individually, Brittany Huxley has been MTSU’s top player with an 8-1 mark in singles and a 6-3 tally in doubles.
