ETSU will appear in the tournament for the fifth time in program history

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 3, 2016) – Nine days after capturing its first ever Southern Conference Championship, the ETSU women’s tennis team now knows who it will face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bucs, who are 20-2 this season, will take on No. 3 North Carolina on May 13 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

“First of all we are happy to be going there,” said ETSU Head Coach Travis Sandlant. “They are a great team obviously and we have our work cut out for us but playing these great programs is where we want to be.”

When the Bucs take the court against Tar Heels, they will be looking for their first ever NCAA Tournament victory. The Bucs, who last made the tournament in 2014, currently have a record of 0-4 in the tournament. ETSU has faced Duke (2014), North Carolina (2011), Tennessee (2009) and Vanderbilt (2006) in its previous tournament appearances.
