JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 13, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will host Appalachian State to conclude their regular season. The Bucs will also celebrate senior day in the middle of doubles and singles action. ETSU will honor their four seniors Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece), Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia), and Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverley, Australia).
About the Bucs
The Bucs come into Saturday’s match with a 10-10 record and are 5-2 in the SoCon. ETSU swept their last match against Samford to hand them their first conference loss. Alory Pereira leads the Bucs with a 14-3 record in singles. Ioanna Markesini also has wins in double figures with a 12-6 record. Melissa Esguerra and Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) each have nine wins. As a team, the Bucs are 62-52 in singles. In doubles, Markesini and Pereira are 10-10, while Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) and Esguerra are 10-5. The Bucs are 31-25 record in doubles.
About Appalachian State
The Mountaineers enter Saturday’s contest with a 10-9 record and are 0-9 in the Sun Belt. Teodora Sevo and Melissa Machado lead the Mountaineers in singles. Sevo holds an 11-6 record, while Machado holds a 10-6 record. As team, the Mountaineers are 57-50 in singles. Machado and Sevo are also Appalachian State’s strongest doubles pair, as they are 13-4 on the season. In doubles, they hold a 34-16 record as a team.
