2007-08: Stepped-up and contributed as the team’s Most Valuable Player in her third year of collegiate tennis… finished the season with a 27-12 record, playing the No. 2 position for most of the year... her 27 single wins place her with the third most victories in a single-season in ETSU women’s tennis history… currently sits fourth in career singles wins with 78… the Johnson City native won her last eight matches including going 3-0 in singles matches in the A-Sun  tournament… along with her teammates, Byrne picked up 12 doubles wins for ETSU throughout the 2007-08 campaign… also earned All A-Sun second-team and all-tournament honors.

 

2006-07: Recorded a 22-16 overall record during her sophomore season… continued her outstanding play during conference competition going a perfect 9-0…was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week once during the season…was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Second Team and the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team…put together a 12-game winning streak to end the season…defeated Michelle Mitchell of No. 37 Pennsylvania and Conner Vogel of Tennessee…earned the ranking of 12th in career singles wins..

 

2005-06: During her freshman campaign Byrne went 27-11, which places her tied for fourth on the single season wins list…competed in 24 of ETSU’s 28 dual matches, primarily playing at the No. 4 and 5 position in singles…Byrne went 7-0 in conference play and was named to the All-Conference second team, the All-Conference freshman team, and was named the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year…was 8-7 in fall tournament singles action...in doubles Byrne was partnered with Batsula, and the duo went 28-10, which placed her in first on the single season win list with 30 victories in doubles competition...won one round at the ITA Regional... had singles wins over No. 60 Loyola Marymount, Auburn, Louisville, and Winthrop.

 

Prep: Played tennis for Science Hill High School...was named to the all-conference and all-region teams for four years straight...was the conference and region MVP her sophomore, junior, and senior years... team captain... ran cross country her eighth and ninth grade years and was named all-conference and all-region both seasons... earned two letters in cross country and four in tennis... was ranked No.1 women’s tennis player for under 18 amateurs in the state of Tennessee.

 

Personal: Born on May 7, 1987, in Johnson City, Tenn. … majoring in business... daughter of Charles and Betsy Byrne... Byrne’s younger brother Chas is currently a member of the ETSU baseball team.
