Knoxville, Tenn. (April 11, 2003) - East Tennessee State University's Brad Yewer, the lone Buccaneer participant at the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee, set a lifetime best and a regional qualifying time on Friday. The sophomore from Newbury, England finished eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:47.36, four seconds faster than his previous lifetime best. In what has already been an impressive sophomore campaign, marked by his three Southern Conference indoor titles and the SoCon Indoor Most Outstanding Runner accolade, today's performance is tops among this weeks SoCon power rankings. "Brad has worked really hard this season," Buccaneer head coach Dave Walker said. "Qualifying for regionals is what it's all about and he is well deserving." The Sea Ray Relays is host to more than 1,500 athletes from 114 schools. The relays will conclude tomorrow and the Buccaneers will have a women's 4x100 meter relay team competing at 2 p.m.
