JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 2, 2004) - East Tennessee State University cross country and track and field head coach David E. Walker announced today that Jordan Ladd (Brockville, Ontario) will join the Buccaneer squad for the 2004-05 season.
"I think that Jordan is going to be a pleasant addition to our program," said Walker. "Jordan has the potential to really fit into our program at a high level and I hope that he is like previous Canadian distance runners that have run at ETSU."
A distance runner, Ladd will look to contribute and make a name for himself in ETSU's storied history of distance runners such as Neil Cusack, Ray Flynn, Adrian Leek, and Seamus Power. Ladd is a five-year letterwinner in cross country and was named MVP of his team in both 1999 and 2001. He helped his team become East Regional Champions in 2000 and 2002. In his final season, Ladd helped his team reach Provincial Championships where they placed sixth. An all-around athlete, Ladd also actively participates in soccer, golf, and karate.
Ladd attended Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) and was coached by Randy Givogue. He and four of his teammates made history recently with all five of them receiving scholarship offers to attend U.S. universities in the fall.
Ladd joins fellow distance runner Jeffrey Crane (Taylors, S.C.) in the upcoming season's recruiting class.
