Knoxville, Tenn. (April 28, 2002) - East Tennessee State's track team sent a number of individuals to compete at the Knoxville Invitational today hosted by the University of Tennessee. David Haefner (Hamberg, N.Y.) came away with a win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to highlight the afternoon for the Bucs.
Haefner's time of 9:29.66 lowered his season-best set last week at the Southern Conference Championships by almost a second. Charvin Clark (Ellenwood, Ga.) was the only competitor in the long jump, posting a mark of 23-05.50. Also competing for the men were Brad Yewer (Newberry, England) and James Grufferty (Glanmire, Ireland). Yewer finished third in the 1,500 meter in a time of 4:09.03, while Grufferty also posted a third-place finish, with his coming in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:46.21.
