James and Monal to compete in Tyson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. AND FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Feb. 11, 2010) - The ETSU track and field teams return to action this weekend as the Buccaneers send athletes to both Clemson, S.C. and Fayetteville, Ark. The majority of the Bucs will compete at Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson, while junior Mike James (Palm Bay, Fla.) and senior Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) will run at the prestigious Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Tiger Paw Invitational gets underway Friday evening at 5 p.m. with the men's and women's long jump finals and the men's and women's 60m dash prelims. Meanwhile, the Tyson Invitational kicks off at noon on Friday and concludes at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.

James and Monal will look to bounce back after struggling a bit at Virginia Tech last weekend. Both Buccaneer sprinters were bit with the false start bug in Blacksburg, and the Florida duo hopes to improve against the nations best in the sprints this weekend.

At Clemson, a pair of conference leaders will be in action for the Bucs.

Senior Kenneth Rotich (Nairobi, Kenya) - who currently holds the league's top time in the 3000m - is scheduled to run in the mile on Friday and the DMR on Saturday.

In the field events, freshman Ryan Beaver (Virginia Beach, Va.) looks to improve his top mark in the triple jump. Beaver set the conference's best leap at 47-08 (14.53) back in December in the Appalachian State Invitational.

The Tiger Paw Invitational features 24 schools and over 1,100 student-athletes for the two-day meet.
