First such award for the sophomore

MACON, Ga. (March 27, 2013) – Sophomore Nicole Alexander (Rock Hill, S.C.) of the ETSU women’s track & field team was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Alexander earned the honor by turning in a first-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.82 this past weekend at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic on the campus of Western Carolina University. The sophomore also recorded a third-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.80 to earn her second trip to the podium at the Classic. These podium finishes came in Alexander’s first appearance in competition in this spring’s outdoor season.

Overall, these strong performances vaulted Alexander in to the top six in the Atlantic Sun in both the women’s 100 and 400m hurdles.

This award is the sophomore’s first Track Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
