SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 7, 2016) – On Thursday senior pole vaulter Ashley Kessler (Knoxville, Tenn.) was named Southern Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Month for March as voted on by the league's coaches.
During the month, Kessler posted the highest height in the SoCon in pole vault at 3.80 meters (12' 5.5") in the first outdoor meet of the season. The mark set by Kessler was the third highest vault of her career and secured a victory at the Charlotte 49er Classic.
"Ashley has done a fantastic job throughout her career," said director of track & field George Watts. "This is another well deserved award to add to her list of accomplishments."
Kessler's height is currently ranked 51st in the NCAA East Region. The Knoxville,Tenn., native is a three-time SoCon indoor pole vaulting champion as well as taking home the SoCon outdoor pole vaulting championship last season. The senior holds the ETSU indoor pole vaulting record with a mark of 3.68 meters.
