JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 3, 2016) – The ETSU women’s triathlon team will wrap up its first season on Saturday morning, as the Buccaneers will compete in the Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships at the New Orleans Lakefront.
The team – which is comprised of senior McKenzie Killian (Bluff City), junior Sarah Zimmer (Farragut), freshman Chloe Ford (Johnson City) and senior Maya Roselius (Bremen, Germany) – will face a field of up to 75 women from various NCAA varsity programs and USA Triathlon-registered collegiate club teams. More information on invitation criteria is available at usatriathlon.org/ncaa.
ETSU head coach Janine Pleasant is confident about her team’s prospects heading into Saturday’s event.
“This is ETSU’s first year of competition and our athletes have already made a name for themselves for their conduct and competitiveness,” Pleasant said. “I am confident we will finish in the top five teams or better. I expect that we will have two or three athletes in the Top 15 individually and possibly in the Top 10. The team has been working very hard all season with a focus on being ready for this event. They have the talent, athleticism and drive to excel.”
