East Tennessee State Baseball Signs Davis Burklin to National Letter of Intent

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University athletic department announced today that Davis Burklin has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach Tony Skole .s baseball program for the 2002 season.

A 6-0, 220-pound first baseman, Burklin hit .544 with 18 home runs and 67 RBIs for head coach Tommy Pharr as a junior at Farragut High School.

"We are pleased to have another fine player in our Buccaneer baseball program from Farragut High School, one of the best programs in the state of Tennessee," Skole said. "Davis is consistently mentioned as one of the top hitters in the entire state. He will have an opportunity to immediately add production to our lineup."

Burklin joins Michael Bauer (Kingsport, Tenn.), Justin Clear (La Follette, Tenn.), Keith Davis (Bristol, Va.), Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.), Trevor Smith (Newport, Tenn.) and Matt Traylor (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the 2002 recruiting class.
