Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University athletic department announced today that Matt Traylor has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach Tony Skole's baseball program for the 2002 season.

The 5-11, 175-pound centerfielder is currently enjoying a stellar senior season. Traylor has led Farragut High School to a 31-7 record so far this year.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native hit .451 with 18 doubles and three home runs during his junior season. He earned All-KIL honors as a junior for head coach Tommy Pharr. An outstanding all-around student-athlete, Traylor also earned All-KIL honors in football this fall.

"We are pleased to have Matt join our baseball family," Skole said. "Matt comes to us from Farragut High School which is one of the top high school programs in the state of Tennessee. He is a tremendous athlete and competitor. Matt will have an opportunity to immediately impact our program."

Traylor joins Justin Clear (La Follette, Tenn.), Keith Davis (Bristol, Va.), Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Trevor Smith (Newport, Tenn.) in the 2002 recruiting class.
