In the midst of a 17-game hit streak, Copeland hit .556 (10-18) in leading the Bucs to a 4-0 record, including a three-game sweep of Appalachian State. Seven of the his 10 hits were extra base hits -- two home runs, four doubles and one triple -- for an amazing 1.222 slugging percentage. The Bucs . clean-up hitter collected eight RBIs and scored six runs.
In the Bucs . 15-2 win at Radford (April 24), Copeland launched a two-run homer. He then led ETSU in a doubleheader sweep -- 8-7, 8-5 -- of Appalachian State on April 28. The outfielder went 7-9 in the two games, with six RBIs and three runs scored. In the series finale, an 8-5 win, Copeland went 2-4 with two runs scored.
The Elizabethton, Tenn. native, ranks among the Southern Conference leaders in many categories. He is tied for fifth in hitting with a .383 batting average. Copeland leads the SoCon in slugging percentage (.749) and doubles (21). He is second in home runs (13) and total bases (131). Copeland also ranks fifth with 67 hits.
ETSU returns to action this weekend with a three-game series at VMI. The Bucs and Keydets will begin a doubleheader at Noon on Saturday, May 5 and will complete the series at 1 p.m on Sunday, May 6.
