Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University athletic department today announced that Keith Davis (Bristol, Va.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach Tony Skoles Buccaneer baseball program for the 2002 season.

The 6-5, 215-pound right-handed pitcher earned district player of the year honors in 2000 for head coach Jimmy King at John Battle High School. Davis went 10-1 on the mound and collected 104 strikeouts. He compiled a 0.95 earned run average in 65 innings pitched.

During his junior season in 2000, Davis earned All-State honorable mention honors while leading John Battle to the Virginia High School State Championship. He also earned First Team All-Region and team most valuable player honors.

We are extremely excited about Keith Davis joining our baseball family here at East Tennessee State, Skole said. Keith has been recognized as one of the top players in the state of Virginia. He has put together a spectacular high school career.

Keith will have the opportunity to make an immediate contribution to our success. He is a fine young man that is blessed with tremendous size and athletic ability. Keith has a very bright future ahead of him at ETSU.

Davis is the first signee to Skoles 2002 recruting class. ETSUs 2001 recruiting class was ranked among the top-50 nationally by Collegiate Baseball News.
