ETSU Baseball Recruiting Class for 2001

Brandon Cross, INF, Bluff City, TN (Waters State C.C.)

Hit .463 in two seasons.led the Nation in hitting during his freshman season with a .519 batting average.5 homeruns.62 RBI's.earned second team All-America honors. Hit .408 as a sophomore with 7 homeruns.52 RBI's earning All-Region honors.

Rickey Luttrell, C, Knoxville, TN (Walters State C.C.)

Hit 24 homeruns in two seasons, along with his 13 homers this year. Rickey hit .367 (57-155) with 50 RBI's and 43 runs scored.had 10 doubles and seven stolen bases.

Matt Hensley, RHP, Powell, TN, (Anderson Co. H.S.)

He threw two Perfect Games and Carried a 1.06 earned run average. In 19 appearances this season Matt was 6-3 with 2 saves. Pitched 8 complete games.struck out 122 batters in 66.0 innings and allowed just 10 earned runs. Matt throws in the low 90's

Donnie Sharp, RHP/INF, Oak Ridge, TN (Oak Ridge H.S.)

In 14 appearances, Donnie finished 6-4 with two saves.allowed just ten earned runs in 60.7 innings for a stellar 1.15 earned run average.struck out 71 batters for an 8.19 strikeout/game ratio. As a position player, Sharp hit .382.25 RBI's.and three homeruns

Josh Kite, LHP/OF, Greeneville, TN, (Chucky-Doak H.S.)

At the plate Josh hit .390 with 14 homeruns and 41 RBI's.35 hits - 11 doubles and scored 40 runs. On the mound, Kite was equally impressive.posting a 8-2 record and a 1.37 earned run average.struck out 127 batters in 56.1 innings pitched.hurled one perfect game and two no-hitters. Josh was a member of the Johnson City Press Super 22 Team his junior and senior years.

Jeremy Skidmore, RHP/OF, Middlesboro, KY, (Middlesboro H.S.)

He was a standout both as a pitcher and outfielder during his baseball career in high school. On the mound he went 6-2 with 53 strikeouts.earned a 1.98 earned run average as a senior. At the plate he hit .490.9 homeruns.45 RBI's. An outstanding all around athlete, Skidmore earned All-State honors as a quarterback and could have played Division I Football.

Ryan Hyder, INF, Erwin, TN, (Lincoln Memorial University)

As a two-year starter from Lincoln Memorial University, Ryan compiled a batting average of .280 with three homeruns.

Andy Baxter, INF, Erwin, TN, (N.C. State)

A left-handed hitter, Andy will have a chance to play at third or first. His last two years at N.C. State he has hit .314 and .346. He will be an immediate contribution to our success.

Tim Turner, LHP/OF, Marietta, GA, (Marietta H.S.)

A two-sport star at Marietta High School, Tim played football and baseball. Tim has also stared on the East Cobb Summer Baseball team in Georgia. Will also play football here at ETSU.

ETSU Baseball Early Signs

J.D. Adams, INF, Kingsport, TN, (Dobyns Bennett H.S.)

Many professional scouts feel J.D. is the best high school player in the Tri-Cities Area. The shortstop hit .389, had 31 RBI's, 11 doubles and three homeruns during his junior year.

Bryan Crouse, OF/LHP, Kingston, TN, (Walters State C.C.)

Will play his first season for Walters State this spring. The left-handed pitcher played last season at Gardner Webb and went 7-4. During high school at Kingston High he went 9-1 as a pitcher and hit .550 with 10 homeruns.

Scott Rose, C, Soddy Daisy, TN, (Chattanooga State C.C.)

As a freshman at Chattanooga State, Scott hit .300 with six homeruns and 30 RBI's. The catcher had a .990 fielding percentage and retired 60 percent of attempted base stealers. As a sophomore he hit .310 with eight homeruns, 30 RBI's and threw out 67 percent of attempted base stealers. He earned Academic All-State honors and carries a 3.75 grade point average.
