Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University athletic department announced today that Jeremy Skidmore (Middlesboro, Ky.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach Tony Skole's Buccaneer baseball program.

Skidmore was a standout both as a pitcher and outfielder during his baseball career at Middlesboro High School. At the plate, Skidmore hit .490 with nine home runs and 45 RBIs during his senior season.

On the mound, the right-hander went 6-2 with 53 strikeouts in 2000. He earned a 1.98 earned run average as a senior. An outstanding all-around athlete, Skidmore earned All-State honors as a quarterback and could have played Division I football.

"We are extremely excited to have Jeremy join our baseball family here at ETSU," Skole said. "We recognized Jeremy as being one of the best high school athletes in the entire state of Kentucky. He has had a tremendous high school athletic career and we anticipate the same here at ETSU."

Cross joins Justin Adams (Kingsport, Tenn.), Brandon Cross (Bluff City, Tenn.), Bryan Crouse (Morristown, Tenn.), Matt Hensley (Knoxville, Tenn.), Josh Kite (Greeneville, Tenn.), Rickey Luttrell (Knoxville, Tenn.), Donnie Sharp (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Scott Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) in the 2000 recruiting class.
