MACON, Ga. (May 22, 2007) - After a disappointing finish to the 2007 campaign, the ETSU baseball squad received some good news Tuesday afternoon as junior Anthony Russell (Waldorf, Md.) was named a second-team all-conference performer, and freshman Danny Petro (Atlanta, Ga.) received all-freshman honors from the Atlantic Sun Conference.

"I am really proud of both Anthony and Danny," said head coach Tony Skole. "They both had fantastic seasons, and we expect them to continue next season and really lead our offense."

Russell achieved his spot on the second team after leading the Bucs from the plate all season, batting .335 with 10 home runs, 19 doubles and 44 RBI.  The junior boasted a slugging percentage of .560, and had a team high 20 multi-hit games as well as a team-best 12-game hitting streak over the course of the season.

It is Russell's second postseason honor from the conference after being named to the all-tournament team for his performance in last season's Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Championships.

Petro finished his first collegiate season with a .295 batting average, hitting .318 against conference pitching.  He belted 12 doubles, two home runs and finished fourth on the squad with 24 RBI.  The Atlanta native also gunned down 21 attempted base stealers for the season.

All postseason awards are determine by vote of the league's head coaches.
