(Mar. 7, 2007) - Trailing 12-6 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bucs scored six unearned runs to tie the contest, and freshman Justin Tramble (Marietta, Ga.) singled in senior Justin Aughey (Davie, Fla.) in the 11^th inning as ETSU posted an improbable 13-12 come-from-behind victory over Appalachian State Wednesday evening.

"I've been around college baseball for 19 years, and this is the greatest comeback I've ever seen," said head coach Tony Skole. 

The Bucs (10-5) started their unlikely rally when junior Anthony Russell (Waldorf, Md.) reached on a one-out error in the ninth inning.  Freshman Tanner Moore (Chattanooga, Tenn.) followed with a single and freshman Danny Petro (Atlanta, Ga.) drew a walk, loading the bases.  Freshman Ryan Self (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) singled home Russell, and a throwing error off the bat of junior Bubba Herbold (Knoxville, Tenn.) brought two more runs home.  Sophomore Ben Allen (Kingsport, Tenn.) singled to center, bringing home pinch runner Jacob Fabry (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and advanced all the way to third when center fielder Chris Baker misplayed the hop; also allowing Self to score and cut the deficit to 12-11.  Senior Michael Courtney (Knoxville, Tenn.) tied the game with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Allen.

Aughey drew a leadoff walk in the 11^th inning, and Allen singled into left field to put runners at the first two, setting the stage for Tramble's heroics.

The Mountaineers (8-5) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, with four first inning runs off ETSU starter Ryan Howe (Greenville, S.C.).  After the Bucs cut the lead to 4-3 with the help of Self's first career home run, a two-run blast in the second, and senior C.J. Lee's (Bristol, Va.) RBI double in the third, Appalachian State steadily rebuilt its four-run advantage with runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Bucs scored three times in the bottom of the sixth, highlight by sophomore Troy Mendez's (Roswell, Ga.) two-out, two-RBI double, again cutting the deficit to a single run, but the Mountaineers appeared to put the game out of reach with four seventh inning runs, combined with scoreless defensive efforts in the seventh and eighth frames.

Senior Caleb Glafenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) pitched the final three innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out three, improving to 5-0 on the season.  Zach Quate (0-1) surrendered the winning run in his only inning of work, taking his first loss of 2007.

The Bucs are back in action at High Point with a three game series this weekend.  First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 9.
