CULLOWHEE, N.C. (March 11, 2009) -The ETSU baseball team dropped a heartbreaker to Western Carolina Wednesday afternoon at Hennon Stadium in Cullowhee, N.C., as the Catamounts rallied to score five runs in the in the last three innings to win 6-5.

The Bucs (5-6, 1-2 A-Sun) jumped out in front 1-0 in the top of the second as Garrett May (Roswell, Ga.) singled to left bringing in Derek Trent (
In the bottom of the fourth, May made an outstanding diving play to rob J.C. Lyons of a hit and kept the Catamounts off of board.
ETSU added another run in the top of the fifth as Jacob Fabry (
The Catamounts cut into the ETSU lead in the bottom of the fifth as Trevor Collias doubled in a run to make the score 2-1.
Fabry answered as he added two more for the Bucs in the top of the sixth as he singled through the left side scoring Matthew Scruggs (
Collias cut the Buccaneer lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh as he singled in two runs.
The Bucs answered again in the top of the eighth as Scruggs came in to score on a Fabry squeeze bunt to make the score 5-4, ETSU.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Catamounts tied the score, 5-5, on a Nick Liles double that scored one run, but a good relay by Scruggs and May cut down a second run at the plate to get ETSU out of the inning.
The Bucs were led offensively by Fabry as he went 3-for-5 on the day and had three RBI. May also had multiple hits as he was 2-for-3 with a RBI.
ETSU is back in action Friday at 4 p.m. as the Bucs head to
