JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 20, 2011) - Junior Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) had a five-RBI performance to guide the ETSU baseball team to a 10-8 win over Jacksonville in the series final Sunday afternoon at Cardinal Park.
Dak Rissman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) was phenomenal in relief as he picked up his second win of the season for the Bucs (12-4, 5-2 A-Sun) after throwing 5.0 innings limiting the Dolphins (13-7, 4-2 A-Sun) to two runs on five hits while striking out seven.
Adam Maxon was tabbed with the loss for Jacksonville after giving up three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of relief.
The Bucs got things going in the bottom of the first as Reeder drove his fifth home run of the season over the scoreboard in left to give ETSU a 2-0 lead.
JU answered with two runs in the top of the second after an Alex Swenson RBI double and a Chris Moye RBI single to tie the game at 2-all.
The Dolphins grabbed their first lead of the contest in the top of the third as they scored four runs on three hits including a three-run home run by first baseman Adam Brett Walker to take a 6-2 advantage.
In the bottom of the third, Andrew Green (Powell, Tenn.) led off the inning with a solo home run to right field to cut the lead to 6-3. Later in the inning, catcher Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) singled in two runs to make the score 6-5 JU.
Jacksonville would get a run back in the top of the fourth as Chris Connelly led off the inning with a solo homer to left to increase the Dolphins lead to 7-5.
Junior Dylan Pratt (Johnson City, Tenn.) came through for the Bucs in the fourth as he delivered a bases loaded single to right scoring Corey McPherson (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Reeder to even the score at 7-all.
Reeder then put ETSU back in front in the bottom of the fifth as he crushed his second home run of the game to straight away center for a three-run homer to put the Buccaneers ahead 10-7.
The Dolphins picked up a run in the sixth on a sac fly by Dan Gulbransen to cut the Bucs lead to 10-8, but Rissman settled in and retired the next nine batters to get the ball into Reeeder's hand in the ninth.
In the ninth, Reeder converted on his ninth straight save opportunity as he faced the minimum to earn his ninth save of the season to lead the country.
Offensively, Reeder led the way going 3-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI and scored three runs, while left fielder John Long (Anderson, S.C.) also had a three-hit day.
ETSU returns to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. as the Bucs host Radford in a doubleheader at Cardinal Park. For more information on ETSU baseball and all other Buccaneer athletic news please visit
