CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Jan. 15, 2015) – ETSU senior right-handed pitcher Jimmy Nesselt (Plantation, Fla.) was named one of the “Top 100 Seniors” by Perfect Game, which was released on Tuesday.

Nesselt, a 2014 A-Sun All-Academic Team selection, went 7-5 with a 4.06 ERA (46 ER/102.0 IP) in 20 appearances (16 starts) for the Bucs last season. The Buccaneer hurler led the team in wins, innings, starts and strikeouts (62). Nesselt ranked 29th nationally in starts and was fifth in the A-Sun in wins, while also recording his first-ever collegiate complete game in a win over Mercer on May 15 at Thomas Stadium. Nesselt posted four straight quality starts to begin the year, while allowing three runs or less in nine of his 16 starts. The right-hander tied a career high with eight strikeouts against Stetson and USC Upstate.

“This is a great honor for Jimmy,” said head coach Tony Skole. “He is definitely very deserving of this accolade. Jimmy has pitched in big games for us ever since stepping on campus as a freshman. He’s the athlete who does so many things the right way on and off the field. He is a phenomenal student, a great leader in our program, and a great representative of our athletic department and university.”

Nesselt and the Bucs begin the 2015 season on Friday, Feb. 13 when ETSU hosts Eastern Kentucky at Thomas Stadium. First pitch is slated for 3:05 p.m.

“I'm excited to watch Jimmy pitch this spring,” said Skole. “He has already had a great career but has really worked hard this winter to put himself at another level. Jimmy will play a huge role in our success this year.”
