JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2020) – The East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its “All Hands on Deck” Commitment to Excellence initiative, which is designed to support our student-athletes and athletic department as we push through the challenges created by COVID-19.
“ETSU Athletics is not only battling COVID-19, but also budgetary concerns caused by the pandemic,” said ETSU Athletics Director Scott Carter. “We ask all Buccaneers to be “All Hands on Deck” and make a gift to support this effort. Your gifts are paramount to sustain Excellence Every Day and the focus on our student-athletes as the primary priority. A strategy of resource conservation, reserve utilization, and asset leverage has already begun and this fundraising commitment to ETSU Athletics excellence is the winning edge. Every Buc is needed “All Hands on Deck!”
As we begin the 2020-21 fiscal year, new budget challenges have been presented by the pandemic, which impact the department’s ability to generate up to $4.5 million of annual revenue (28% of the annual budget). The areas of impact include: game guarantees, ticket revenue, annual giving revenue, game-day revenue, special events, sponsorship revenue, ETSU enrollment revenue (student fee/general fund) and NCAA distribution revenue.
With the “All Hands on Deck” approach, donations of any amount can help make a difference. These gifts will directly benefit scholarships, student-athlete development, health and safety services, recruiting, nutrition, academics, strength and conditioning, and the continuation of the complete student-athlete experience.
To discuss making an investment, please call Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, Dr. Matt McGahey, at (423) 439-5925 or email at [email protected].
