ETSU wins game one, 5-1; falls in game two, 3-2

DURHAM, N.C. (March 13, 2021) — The ETSU Baseball team concluded its final non-conference series on Saturday evening at the Durham Athletic Park. The Bucs won their fourth straight series to open the campaign, splitting the Saturday doubleheader with North Carolina Central. The Bucs took game one, 5-1 before dropping the series finale, 3-2 in seven innings.

In the top of the first, Ethan Cady (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) gave the Bucs the lead with another rocket to right field. The starting right fielder launched his third home run of the series to give ETSU a 2-0 lead, scoring Ashton King (Knoxville, Tenn.).

The Eagles got on the board in the bottom half with a leadoff homerun to right center. Joseph Acosta (Vineland, N.J.) came in relief for Colby Stuart (Elon, N.C.) with one on and two outs in the seventh. After the next batter reached on an error, Acosta got out of the jam with a flyout to center.
