JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug 18, 2021) – The East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday the creation of the Blue and Gold Club. The Blue and Gold Club is an alumni network for all former ETSU student-athletes, spirit squad members, student managers and student training staff members.
The Blue and Gold Club is intended to honor the history of our ETSU athletic alumni, highlighting their careers both on and off the field, while also providing both former and current Buccaneers exciting opportunities to engage with their extended Blue & Gold family.
“The accomplishments of our former Buccaneers serve as an incredibly strong foundation for which we continue to build upon today with the announcement of the Blue and Gold Club,” said Tanner Ball, Assistant Athletic Director for Administration. “The Blue and Gold Club is a symbol of our gratitude for everything they have done for our University, and a reminder that ETSU and Johnson City will always be a place they can call home. I want to thank everyone who was involved in this project, especially Whitney Goetz and all the former ETSU Buccaneers who helped us along the way, their support of ETSU is unmatched and unwavering. I look forward to seeing what this group will achieve.”
Dating back to its roots as the “T” Club, which was founded in April 1926, the Blue & Gold Club is designed for all sports to promote school spirit, sportsmanship and the wearing of the University’s Letters. Operating under the umbrella of the ETSU Athletics Excellence Fund, and in conjunction with the ETSU National Alumni Association, the Blue & Gold Club works to reconnect former Buccaneers, bring them to campus and share their experiences with our current student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
The ETSU Alumni Association has played an integral role in launching the Blue and Gold Club, and they are eager to help reconnecting former Buccaneers and expanding the ETSU brand.
“I’m excited about the opportunity for our Alumni Association to partner with ETSU Athletics on launching this new initiative,” said Whitney Goetz, Executive Director of the ETSU Alumni Association. “The Blue and Gold Club is a great opportunity for our former student-athletes to reconnect with teammates and friends, as well as connect with others from different sports who share their ETSU PRIDE!”
“Our Alumni Association is proud to partner with ETSU Athletics to support the Blue and Gold Club,” said Bryan Daniels, President of the ETSU National Alumni Association Board of Directors. “ETSU student-athletes have been and continue to be great ambassadors of our university. We are excited to help them reconnect with each other while inspiring our next generation of competitors. Go Bucs!”
