Bucs look to salvage the set tomorrow at 1 p.m.

MACON, Ga. (April 15, 2023) – ETSU baseball was locked into a close game heading into the fifth inning in Macon, Ga. on Saturday, but a pair of Mercer grand slams propelled the Bears past the Bucs in game two of a three game series at OrthoGeorgia Park.

ETSU trailed just 3-0 in the middle frames, but a six-run fifth inning gave Mercer all the momentum and a grand slam in the sixth inning added insurance. The Bucs got on the board with a seventh-inning two-run shot by Garett Wallace (Sanford, Fla.) over the wall in right-center field. Wallace led the way for ETSU with two hits.

Coming off a four-hit day on Friday, true freshman Cody Miller (Rocky Point, N.Y.) had a first-inning single to extend his hitting streak to 16 games and his on-base streak to 22 games. ETSU had two more hits on the day — one each from Nick Iannantone (Plainfield, Ill.) and Skyler Cannady (Nicholasville, Ky.).

Defensively, ETSU had seven strikeouts and had a clean day fielding with no errors. Trevor Hanselman (Tallahassee, Fla.) pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts late in the contest.
