Bucs drop first all-time meeting with Blue Hose

CLINTON, S.C. (April 19, 2023) – ETSU baseball’s road trip in South Carolina did not start as planned on Wednesday night, as the first stop resulted in a 16-3 loss to Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.

The Bucs scored the first run of the game with an RBI single by Cameron Sisneros (Littleton, Colo.), but the Blue Hose answered back with a six-run inning to take a substantial lead. Just as ETSU began closing in with a pair of runs in the sixth to make it 7-3, Presbyterian blew the game open with nine runs in the last three innings.

Despite the loss, ETSU had 10 hits on the day. One of those hits came from second baseman Jared Paladino (Levittown, N.Y.), who rolled a two-RBI single in the sixth inning to bring in Garett Wallace (Sanford, Fla.) and fellow New Yorker Cody Miller (Rocky Point, N.Y.) to make it 7-3.

Sisneros, Wallace and Nick Iannantone (Plainfield, Ill.) had two-hit days for the Bucs.

ETSU sprinkled in six pitchers for the midweek tilt, led by two scoreless innings from Andrew Cotten (Lexington, S.C.), who played in his home state for the second time in his young collegiate career. He allowed just one hit over his two innings, but nothing else.

Win – Charlie McDaniel (2-6)

Loss – Trevor Hanselman (0-1)

Save – None

ETSU: 15-19

PC: 15-23

The Bucs continue their Palmetto State visit down on the coast in Charleston on Friday, starting a three-game set against The Citadel. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
